Steven - I know it must get old having good ol me posting all the time, meaning it's cooler when klepper, sexauer, carruth post .....but I'm a fan. It just looks outstanding. I'm no birds beak expert but it appears you added our own flair to it and I think it's really nice.
It was also really cool to see the strings mocked up on it. Excellent work. I'm sure many others have had super nice first builds, but this is the best I've seen. Sam |

Thanks, Sam! I really appreciate your comments as much as anyone's. I try to learn from everyone no matter their experience level. I'm a perpetual rookie.
Best, Steve

Nice work Steven, you should be real happy with that no matter what it sounds like. I love the traditional look/wood combination. Never thought I would get to build in that combination but I was given two sticks of BRW that I have managed a four piece back out of to pair with backsawn sides. Also I have one Honduras Mahogany neck blank left that I bought twenty years ago.

Here's a clip of a song on my guitar. I named the guitar "The Lila" after my daughter.

This is a terrific thread, I love the pics and discussion of the headstock joint. I'm still wondering how you get such a tight fit in the back of the headstock, where there is nothing to hide it. Is that the same joint as on old Martins, and some classicals?
Cole Clarke do a nice headstock joint in a similar style, but it is all CNC.

Thanks, Jim, Tony D, and Sam! Generally, I am very happy with the result. The tone is way better than I expected and also different. It does have sparkly mid-tone separation and some deep piano-like tones on the bass notes. I stopped the French polish earlier than I might have liked and it's far from perfect, but I figure I can work on that as I go. I got the finish far enough along to glue the bridge on. I'm already excited about making a J-45 for my next build.

Thanks arie! A big thrill is hearing how it's opening up. It's only been strung up for a couple of weeks but wow how it's changed. I'll post some better guitar-alone clips in a couple more weeks once I get the setup dialed in. That's another revelation. I had no idea a few 10,000ths of an inch was such a big deal on string height.
