If it is truly a "from the ground up" new design, there's little point in guessing. I'll just bide my time and see what shows up lol

Can't help thinking if he's so great why didn't he build his own guitars .... like auto executive John DeLorean did!
You are not the only one. And I second RP's point about the mid-90's Taylors, which were BY FAR its best products.

There's also a possibility of an archtop. It was mentioned in passing in a factory podcast, and it is Andy Powers' wheelhouse after all.

A pickup that works? Sounds like your guitar and settings operated by your phone?

Guitar made out of plastic? No wood? Bamboo?

'Z' Bracing?

Love this^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'm guessing it will be along the lines of an electric guitar. Meaning maybe an acoustic electric with features of some sort.

Game changer.?? I doubt it.

They already have the profile templates for 15"/16"/17" instruments (-12/-14/-15 respectively), experience with arched/molded laminate backs (GS Mini), and with some minor changes the -14ce would make a viable Gypsy guitar - if not this time around, I think by Summer NAMM '21...

In the 'Covid Guitar Boom' article, it mentioned 45% of new sales was to females....

Perhaps Andy has invented a guitar fretboard that you can play with long fingernails? It would probably have some kind of scalloping between the frets? A full re-engineering problem?

A terz from Taylor would be pretty interesting.

So would a mandolin.

sounds like something we just encountered from winter Namm, hum, Gamechanger, designed from the ground up.......those very phrases being used by many reviewers.

I think it will be a possible tweaked body shape, possibly no heel to impede the fretting hand and a very deft cutaway section-again-not to impede the fretting hand, maybe a new neck profile shape, around the $1500 price range, layered back/sides, stage ready, housed in the new gigbag they offer.
will be a departure from most anything they've done, and will be well received.

I can imagine after Winter Namm 2019 there was a board meeting in California, a guitar laid in the middle of the meeting room table, passed around, played, eyebrows raised, mult head shakes in agreement, finally someone speaks.....lets call him Robert, "this should have been ours, we could have done this". all heads shake in agreement. Robert looks over at a coworker and says, "get on it, you been surfing too much lately, nail something down for fall".

Taylor is gonna build a banjo...a "Tanjo" that is ecologically correct in every way. They're gonna target the new grass segment. Maybe Andy also paddles canoe's when he's not surfing?

Or if we're being serious I think a 12 fret Grand Pacific could be an interesting addition...
