Don't know how to link videos on here but anyway, an amazing rendition of a terrible song.

This gal stole my heart when I saw her first in '85....

Here's a pic I took that first night!

All of the women mentioned are excellent. Considering body of work and singer-songwriting skills, I think these are the ones who have impressed me most:

Bonnie Raitt
Chrissie Hynde
Joni Mitchell
Shawn Colvin
Sheryl Crow

All of them have stood the test of time and still amaze me, even after listening to them for years.

Add Maria Zemantowski to the list, one of the world's premier flamenco guitarists and something of a friend. She plays here at Rocky Top every couple of years.

Most people probably think of Sarah McLachlan as a pianist. But this video ought to open some eyes:

My duo partner Jamie Stillway always blows my mind. Incredible player, listener, writer.. We recorded this tune three times in twenty minutes and all three were dramatically different: https://youtu.be/qOHxhwv3W9U Except the opening and closing 32 bar themes it's all just a listening and winging it. In the three takes I could hear myself trying to chance ideas from previous takes. Not Jamie. She's just an idea machine. Every solo could be a whole new tune on to it's self..

Other friends of mine to check in: my good buddy and neighbor blues legend Mary Flower. Or Berklee School Of Music jazz instructor Jane Miller. Or fellow SCGC artist and gypsy master Lisa Liu.. I know so many other killer female guitarists.

I actually prefer playing with women on the whole because they by and large just manage miss a lot of the traps guys fall into like being obsessed with gear, or playing difficult things just to impress -a lot of the subtle pissing match vibe.. In general female guitarists (as most guys after about age sixty) are more into making music that just making great guitar playing. Just my two cents
