On second thought I don’t think I would call them beautiful. I think handsome would be more appropriate for those dreads.

Way too suggestive. Some like the Gibson bling, others, the simplistic beauty of a Martin. I’m partial to Taylors, but I think every manufacturer makes beautiful instruments. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. [emoji23]

They all make good looking guitars; it depends what you prefer. I'm not a bling guy, so that leaves body shape. My favorites are the Martin 000/OM body shape and the Gibson J-45 shape. Many others make guitars in these shapes and they all look good.

Martin and Fender. I see beauty in simplicity.

I didn't mean to imply that D-18's are beautiful. That would be disrespectful of a handsome Martin dread.

The emphasis was on the beauty of simplicity.

In a zen kind of way.

I actually don’t like the pickguards on Guilds! My favorite pickguards are Taylors

Taylor is pretty nice as far as high volume guitars go, but in my view there are so many boutique builders that can make far more special/attractive instruments.

I'm not especially interested in bling, I'm more of a hot rod guy. So to me, the silhouette is more important.

Irrespective of maker, I would say the 16" L-5/ Small Jumbo shape as originally set down by gibson looks the best. The curves and tangent lines are well defined and flow smoothly into each other. The F mandolins don't look bad either. So it would be late 20's- early 30's gibson for me.

side note, one could consider different eras effectively different makers, especially for companies like gibson and fender that have had so much variability throughout their history.

Different strokes for different folks.
