I had a handmade Manuel Contreres long scale classical from his Main Street shop in Madrid. Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Solid Spanish pine top. Indian rosewood sides and back. Black, white and red back purfling. It was a gorgeous instrument!

I had a roommate who was about 6 and a half feet tall. His fingers had their own zip codes and he was trying to learn to play classical. I lent him the guitar and later in the year he bought it.
That was a good one

Handmade classical guitar by August LoPrinzi - $325. Had it appraised a week later for $4000. It's 40 years old now and needs some fret work, but it still has a sweet tone.

Of course I bought it, loved it, and then lost my mind and sold it to buy something else. Major stupid move on my part.
I got $1800 for it, and gave my brother another $400.

He never really forgave me, and, he is right. It was a dumb thing for me to do, and I regret it. Big mistake. I did not really know what I had at that time, because of was ignorant of guitars.

I knew a guy who just sold his brothers guitar without asking[emoji15][emoji15][emoji15][emoji15]
That did not go well

I don’t know if it qualifies as as an incredible deal but I recently bought my 2018 Breedlove Premier concertina for $900.00 all in. Guitar is in excellent + condition and plays/sounds Beautiful. What makes it an even better deal is I’ve wanted this exact model since they came out but couldn’t swing $2100! I’ll have other guitars but I think it’s safe to say this one is with me for the duration

I’m gonna tell the worst deal I ever got. I played an Ibanez electric bass in an orchestra for five years. I paid $125 for it at a pawn shop. My son wanted me to teach him acoustic guitar so I took the bass to a music store for partial trade on one. I told the clerk I wanted to trade it for a used guitar thinking it was my cheapest route. I should have noticed how excited he was when he said I could pick any new Alvarez on the wall for it even up. I picked one for $340 and was very pleased with myself. Then I recalled the pawn shop clerk telling me they couldn’t find the Ibanez bass in any of their pricing references. I wondered why the music store clerk was so excited. After a lot of digging I discovered the bass was a highly coveted custom shop creation of which four were made in total. The last one that ever sold went for three grand. Did I mention mine was mint?

$25 for a 1967 Guild T-50 at a garage sale.

I also got a 1930’s Epitome (not Epiphone) for $10 a number of years earlier, also at a garage sale. Arch top, all hand carved mahogany. It has a warped and twisted neck but the body is mint. One day I may have time to find a replacement neck.
