Default Graduation Song For School Choir

While Im here I may as well ask another favor. My 10 year old daughters music teacher asked me today if I would mind playing a few songs for the graduating chior ( 8th grade ) to sing along to. I guess traditionally they performed to a cd of somesort, but thought it would be nice to have some live accoutrement. ( hope thats the right word ??) Anyway of course I said yes. Then while walking out I started wondering what to play ? I thought of these but need help. So if you have an idea please chime in. Thanks. Bob

If it's a song they would need to be taught, try "Friends (Forever)" by Michael W. Smith. Oops - I forgot, it mentions the word "Lord" in the chorus - I guess that could be a problem. It's still a great song and most kids love to sing it. If it's something they should already know, I would have no idea what 8th graders these days are listening to.

Thats a nice selection. Have to see if I can find the song on the net so I can listen to the melody. Believe me, the stuff the 8th grades are into these days could NEVER be played at a public function.
Thanks for the input,. Bob

Consider patriotic and/or folky songs that everyone knows. Off the top of my head...God Bless America, My Country Tis of Thee, This Land is Your Land, The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

From Broadway/Movies:
"The Impossible Dream" - Man of Lamoncha
"Climb Every Mountain" - The Sound of Music
"Tiptoe Through the Tulips" - Just Checking to See If You're Awake
(Around here, Smith's "Friends" is still popular, and allowed.)

Then there are a few songs that you probably would NOT want to do:
"I Did It My Way" - Sinatra
"Another One Bites the Dust" - (in "honor" of the drop outs)
