Default Marcel's Thumb - Marcel Dadi cover

Thom Bresh did really good version of this song. This version is similar except that I put capo on 2dn.

Good job.

I also listened to your cover "send me an Angel" and you two did an excellent job on that is well.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Solo.
I have been meaning to do more covers with him, but he is busy with band projects. I want to do some heavier stuff

Good stuff. I saw the "scorpions" live (twice) around 1988 and 1990 and between them and Pink Floyd they still have to be the best concerts ive been to.

Cheers,

Very nice playing - love the minor-chord change part, sounds great. Nice and steady, like how the parts really stand out.

I have tried once in a while to pick this one - and agree, it is a slightly more difficult alt-thumb piece than others, but great sound you have with it.

Thanks for the comments.

First time I've heard this song I thought to myself "What a great tune. oh I'll have this in no time". Boy was I wrong. Songs like Windy and Warm or Freight Train can be played without total thumb independence. Meaning you can just count thumb, index, thumb middle, etc... But not this one. Some parts of this song require a true thumb independence, where melody comes in between beats (not really syncopated, but just flowing with no timing while thumb is doing steady beats), and those were the parts I had struggled with while learning it. But it was a great learning experience.

Nice to read how you found learning it - alternating bass can make so many different sounds I always thought, I love the style. Makes me want to have another go at the song - and perhaps I will.

Fantastic that so much of his music is still around to learn - never heard of him til I started playing guitar again, but he's a fingerpicker's dream.

And not sure if it is your kind of music, but if you like alternating thumb and a bit more challange for the thumb - try some Gary Davis or Blind Blake. Old-time kind of stuff (as you probably know, of course), but can apply the techniques it to your own things in a more modern way. Very heavy on the thumb, granted - if you are more into what the high notes are doing it may not be melodic enough - but it really "shifts" things, it is an interesting approach.

I am into whatever makes a great melody I don't have a preference as far being heavy on the thumb or high notes.

I've heard some Gary Davis stuff. Never heard of Blind Blake, but I will check it out for sure.

Thanks

Mighty nice, mighty nice. A song like this that takes you over a technical hump changes your musical life, doesn't it?
