Frank Zappa on acoustic
Helllo all, I've been tryin' out some alt tuning lately on my ( new to me ) 74 Yamaki dread. Came across this interesting one..... D G D E A C#
Very odd tuning yes, this is the tuning for Zappa's Sofa No. 1 ( as performed by Michael Hedges ). I have always liked this song so started to learn it, so far I 've got the first part down, still working on the back half ( lots of harmonic tapping to figure out yet ). This is all I've got so far ........ http://soundcloud.com/robbiehunter/sofa-number-one-01 ( btw, I really love the sound of this Yamaki, lemme know what you all think ). Thanks rlouie and rmyAddison!
Yes it certainly has some good bass, dont know if soundcloud does something to the file but the original sounds a tad better to me. FWIW.... it is strung with Elixer Nanoweb P/B's, they work well on this guitar. |
