Default Wild Mountain Thyme Ed Gerhard

The sheet music for Wild Mountain thyme Ed Gerhard has the tuning as:
Bb F C F A C
Which is "open G with a low C tuned down a whole step."

Is this going to be possible on a standard guitar without using a special string set? The 6th string is lowered 3 tones (6 frets)!
( I was hoping to play this on a Nylon string Hybrid (with hard strings) but I'm guessing this not going to be practical.)

It should be possible, although nylon strings don't tend to like extreme retuning (they'll attempt to get back to where they were )

Why not play it a whole step up from that?: C G D G B D. The fingerings will all be the same. Key isn't an issue unless you're singing it, or want to play along with the original.

Thanks Jon

I guess I'll just give it a try and see what it sounds (plays) like and try it a tone higher.
