Main workhorse - Takamine G330S - solid top, laminate b/s - decent sound and volume, and not too expensive that I worry about the occassional scratch. But seriously, many choices in this range.

Default Well...

My first "banger" was a Global classical- got rid of it.
After that, was my Applause 12-string A/E...had it 'till '01- sold it.
Now it's a toss-up between my Baby M and Big Baby!

Has anyone considered using a "Rainsong"? They have graphite bodies, after all. Of course, they aren't budget guitars.

The rainsong WS1000 is a truly excellent guitar in my opinion.

Kinda pricey indeed though!!!

My favorite banger is my only banger. In early 90s La Patrie dreadnought. The top is coming off, the stacked heel has been re-glued several times, the scarf joint is coming apart, and I can leave it out in the 100 degree weather in the sun while camping - and I couldn't care less.

I'm trying to resurrect the oldest thread I can find on AGF, by the way.

I've had a few Yamaha FG700s that were terrific for camp fires, bon fires, trips, etc.

Life is too short for a ‘banger’. Play what you love and enjoy!

I really like my Martin DX1 for this. What I particularly like is the toughness of the HPL back and sides and the Stratabond neck. I gig with and do open mics with it as well. It sounds the same as my solid wood Martin amplified (same pickup), and I don’t have to worry about sweaty shirts, belt buckles, jacket zippers, etc because the HPL is as tough as Formica.

My main banger I would never call a banger, I call it "Traveler" and it shows it's road wear. It's a Takamine GS 330s, 2008 vintage, my first guitar that started me down the road to playing guitar. I've been tempted more than once to buy another one when I see one come up on craigslist.
