Removable pickup
What's a decent soundhole pickup that I can use on my 000-18 that's easy to remove when I don't need it? Reaming for an endpin jack is not an option - I bought a JJB but never installed it as I want to keep the guitar in original condition. Maybe the K&K with the mini plug arrangement would work but they pretty much tell you on the website that they don't hold up very well.

The Baggs s/h pickups (I have the m1a) have a jack socket attached into which you can plug a short lead to an endpin jack for permanent installation or a longer one for temporary connection to a DI/external preamp.

My producer uses the Fishman Neo-D and it's an inexpensive mag (maybe $50) that sounds pretty good, especially if you have an outboard preamp to condition it. It's specifically designed for temp install.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would share a video I made that compares have a soundhole pickup - in this case a PROMAG Gold Dean Markley - sounds against an A.R.T Yamaha Piezo.
The amplifier is an SR Techologies 250 W, and the guitar I use is a Yamaha LLX16 (no A.R.E). A.R.T Yamaha piezos remain in my humble opinion of of the finest acoustic amplification devices ever built. As it took me some time to record this video, I thought I would share it on the forum, without dedicating a new thread to it. Here the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kInY3yGTqsA&t=172s |

When I first received my Goodall Grand Concert, I was loathe to put anything inside of it, and absolutely would not tolerate anything that might impinge upon the tone of the guitar...
Quickly, I realized that I was going to want to play the guitar on stage, so I looked into a bunch of soundhole pickups as an option. Fortunately for me, James Goodall had three or four of the more popular ones (in 2011) around his shop, so I got a chance to "audition" several. First off - I have never played one of the "normal" soundhole picups that sounded ANYTHING like an acoustic guitar... they are magnetic pickups and they work, but they have much more of the tone characteristic of an electric guitar pickup than anything resembling acoustic... So, I tried the M1, the M1A, and the M80... wasn't pleased with any of those. The only soundhole mounted pickup I tried that sounded good to me was the Seymour Duncan Mag-Mic... however, none of the "decent sounding" soundhole pickups are all that easy to put in and take out. I could see myself scratching up my guitar pretty easily if I got sloppy with it in the slightest. For me, I opted for the K&K PW Mini (like your JJB), and it's okay, even very nice with an SM-57 added to get some string noise and "breath". No batteries, nothing inside the guitar to speak of... ABSOLUTELY ZERO IMPACT on the tone or volume of the guitar. Of course, it doesn't have a volume control in it, either, so I have to do that externally, but I can deal with that. Hope you find what you like, what does it for you...
