The incomparable Eva Cassidy! Her feeling and timing were unbelievable.
My wife discovered her and we were HUGE fans. Unfortunately she passed away from cancer right about the time she was poised to gain a wider audience. We hoped we could see her live, but she never made it out to the West Coast. (There is a short documentary made by a bandmate and/or manager on YouTube somewhere. It gives a good account of her short career and truly paints a picture of a huge unknown talent that we'd probably be talking about today.)
