Default Planxty Fanny Poer (O'Carolan)

Hi all

I came across this piece a few weeks back on Youtube, played by Steve Baughman - I was blown away by his playing and loved the tune so started to work on it.

I recorded it today and also, for the first time mixed it on my MAC using Reaper - which I am trying to learn and transition to.

I found the piece quite challenging from a timing and a "feel" perspective but am quite pleased with the outcome.

Hope you like it.

You nailed that one. Best one you've ever posted here. It just flowed. Perfect.

The recording sounds excellent also.

Thanks Barry - really appreciate that!

You should find and listen to Steve Baughman’s Celtic sessions if you haven’t already - they are fantastic

I had subscribed to his YT of them and then forgot all about them. Does he sell the scores for the sessions? He states in the text of the 14th session that he his working on a book Celtic Songs for Fingerstyle Guitar, but I can't find it online.

I don't think the new book is finished, but I haven't talked to Steve since just before the shutdown started. Fanny Power is in his old Mel Bay book, tho, along with some (I think), but definitely not all of the tunes in those Session videos.

Wrighty: Really nice! Steve's arrangement of this has always been one of my favorites - just perfection, and you're doing it justice. It's not easy to nail the phrasing and details on this tune.

Thanks very much Doug - I think you mastered these for him?

Funnily enough someone shared this with him and he sent me a nice note on YT which made my day as I really like his touch and emotion on his version.

He has recommended Lord Inchquin for my next piece but I can't find the tab yet..

Cheers

Peter
