Default Taylor Mini-GS Walnut electronics options

Hi all,

Have been interested in this model for awhile, notice they have ES-B electronics in them now. I remember seeing them with the three Expression knobs in the past, now they all have the cut-in pickup system. Can you still get them without the big, clunky onboard system?

Thanks.

Not unless you get a used one. The newer models have the set up that includes a tuner, and the tradeoff is a single eq/tone button. And actually, I don't know for sure if a walnut model was offered during the 3-knob (esb2) era.

I wouldn't call it clunky. Mine is tucked in the curve of the guitar and has honestly never snagged on clothing or anything else over the year I have had the guitar. I have had some guitars with knobs and buttons that seem to catch everything.

I've even gotten used to the tuner. I used to be a strictly by ear guy, but the ability to tune in noisy places, etc. is really nice.

I have a 2016 Taylor GS Mini-e Koa with the regular 3-knob ES2 System, and it sounds gigantic and wonderful when amplified--The Mouse That Roared!

I think Taylor made the GS Mini-E Walnut with ES2 (3 knobs) in 2017 before moving to the ES-B system on that model in 2018 and thereafter.

You can get them without any electronics (for less money) and then, if you like, have a pickup of ur choosing installed. Ive been thinking about the same thing and would probably go with a passive (no battery!) K&K Pure Mini or similar.
ADDENDUM: Checked w local dealer only Spruce over Sapele is available without electronics.
