It refers to the big control panel set into the side of the guitar.
The Artec pickup system looks very like the setup used at one time in Wechter's imported guitar line, but this doesn't look like any Wechter I ever recall.

another clue?
I just noticed that there's no marker at the third fret. Is that evidence of US origin? Chinese? Russian?
Geez, I really love this guitar, so much that I want to know something about it!
