SOLD TO FELLOW AGF MEMBER Custom 2015 Collings SJ3 G
Up for sale is my custom Collings SJ3 G, very lightly played and in mint/excellent condition, with several upgrades. The German Spruce top coupled with the dark Indian Rosewood back & sides with all the cosmetic upgrades makes this a stunning guitar – check out the grain of the German Spruce top! Coupled with the Adirondack bracing, this wood combination gives a sweet, responsive, articulate and resonant tone, and since this is an SJ, there’s quite a spectrum of tones you can create depending on the attack and where you contact the strings relative to the soundhole. The 1 ¾” nut with 2 ¼” custom string spacing is a very comfortable combination, especially with the narrow waisted SJ design. Other upgrades include Gold Waverly tuning machines, Abalone rosette, ebony “Clean & Clear” fretboard with no inlays.
I bought this guitar new in December 2016; built for Redwood Acoustics in 2015, serial # 24183. This guitar was handled with the utmost respect – always humidity controlled, in the case when not played and never left the house except for a Collings dealer to set it up with New Medium strings for even more comfort and ease of play. There are no dings or dents of any kind and the only sign of wear are some very slight surface scratches on the back that don’t show up in photos and could likely be polished out if you so decide. There is only very slight fret wear. If ordered today, these SJ specifications would cost $7,150 according to Collings and would take up to 2 years to receive. For those that haven’t played SJ’s, when I acquired this guitar, I had a weekend shootout with a Collings D2HG at my home. It was an easy decision - the SJ was more responsive, better clarity, more balanced, had deeper bottom end and more volume. Best of all, it was easier to play, as it felt much more closer to an OM than a dread, as the narrower waist fits on your lap better and the shallower body makes it easier for your shoulder.

The SJ just arrived in even better condition than described by the seller!
