Default Sexauer built Schoenberg OM's, plain and fancy

Here are photos of my two Bruce Sexauer built Schoenberg soloists. The Brazilian/Italian spruce OM-45 is about a year old. The Mahogany/Adirondack OM-18 "Artifact" is new. Both guitars are wonderful examples of Bruce's matching of great materials with his approach to old and new construction techniques. Both guitars came to me new with an unbelievably open, mature tone that is unlike any new guitar I've experienced. The 45 is slightly more complex tonally with superb balance from top to bottom. The Artifact defies description. It is loud, has a huge bottom end and thick, rich trebles. It puts my 32 OM-18 to shame from a tone, volume and playability standpoint. We talked about whether its visual appeal affects a player's expectation of what it should sound like. All I know is that its a gem as well.

The print is "Smokin" by William Tolliver, a Mississippi artist now deceased. I'll post another one of his, "Luther" that is also musically oriented. He died relatively young and, like many things, I wish I had more of his work.

"Luther"

Good catch StringMeUp. Alas, the 58 Speedster came and went but not before I doubled my money. It paid for a bunch of guitars, among other things!

Default Schoenberg "artifact" #2

I enjoyed making the first so much, and encouraged by the quick sale, I have made another. This one will be delivered to Schoenberg Guitars in the next day or so. Here is a link to the page I made for it at my website, and also a couple of pictures.

I had the privilege of meeting Bruce and Eric and seeing this beautiful guitar at Schoenberg Guitars last Friday. Bruce and Eric are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. If you are ever in the San Francisco Bay Area, I highly recommend a visit to Eric's shop in Tiburon!

58's (first name basis by now, surely!) 18 beng an
artifact, and my liking this thread, I am putting more news about my "artifact" series in here. I'd rather see this thread live on than start a new one.

The second I showed was another Schoenberg, but the one I am adding now is a Sexauer, my own design, though functionally indistinguishable from a Martin OM; same size, same job, different template/neck shape/head design, as well as different bracing concept and a subtle bridge redesign. Some of this is just to embody my own aesthetic, but several of the variations are intended to give my FT-15 (as this is) an advantage compared to the ES-15 (exclusively for Eric) which is more faithful to the tradition.

This guitar is going to China with me where I will show it in the HUGE Shanghai trade show in October, as will one of my All-Koa Ukuleles. There is actually a lot more story here, but I will leave that alone till it becomes history. Don't worry, you will not be seeing an authorized Chinese version of my guitar in the foreseeable future.

Like the other two, this is Honduras Mahogany and Adirondack. This is trimmed in Amazon Rosewood like the second, but also has an Amazon fingerboard and bridge. I took the "Artifacting" considerable further than either of the others.

Maybe, unauthorized ones, though?
