Default RIP Bonnie Guitar & Mary Oliver

Just wanted to acknowledge the loss of two very creative women. Here is an article about Bonnie Guitar. Fascinating life.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/17/o...ion=Obituaries

Mary Oliver has been one of my longtime favorite poets. I always felt her poems were very accessible to everyone and didn't get bogged down in too much poetry for poetry's sake.

I am grateful for the contributions these two made to both the world of music and of words.

Best,
Jayne

One of our yoga instructors ends each session by reading a poem by Mary Oliver. I wasn’t familiar with her work until I listened to these poems at class. They are thoughtful, creative and beautiful. She will live on.

One of my favorites

"For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.” ― Mary Oliver

My daughter, who knows how much I love poetry called me about Mary Oliver's passing. I had to ashamedly admit I had never heard of her. I have since read several of her pieces and I am hooked. Sometimes I am late to the party. I hope she rests easy. A beautiful soul from what I can tell from here.

I was saddened to hear about Mary Oliver's passing. She was an inspiration. A courageous woman, with so much power and immediacy in her writing. A rare talent.

RIP.

Was not really aware of Bonnie Guitar and her accomplishments until I read the obituary that OP linked. Another remarkable, trailblazing woman! RIP.
