I haven't played it all the way through, but in the second measure it suggests you play the Em7 with one finger on fret 7, 1st string and another on fret 2, 4th string. Ouch. I need to play that instead as a barre Em7 at the seventh fret, pulling that E on the 5th string.
You know what, I'm pretty sure that was a mistake in the tab. Unless the player was specifically going for the timbre of the 4th string, there's no good reason to not play that note on the 5th, as he does in the 3rd beat of that same bar

I like a straight forward rendition, which is why I prefer Mark Hanson's version over TE's

Actually, if we throw out all those crazy harmonics (which aren't really part of the melody at all), Tommy's version is surprisingly straightforward and simple.

But then, it wouldn't be Tommy-ish anymore

Barry, would you happen to have an MP3 of Mark's version? I'd like to listen to (at least some part of) the arrangement before I decide whether to buy the Oz book

I do not have an arrangement per se to recommend. I just wanted to say I love this song and I have been working on it and making it my own for a month or so. I play it on a classical and play the melody along with the chords over and over until I know it by heart and then it becomes an arrangement of my own. I love the romanticism in this song.

I am so going to marry Eva Cassidy if she comes back from the dead and turns out to have bad taste in men and my wife turns out to have been an illusion.

Not sure you would want to learn this arrangement but I thought it was interesting coming from Eric Clapton. Sure is different seeing him sing this one but very tasteful.........

+1 on Clapton! Great, peaceful, happy version - such pros...

Love Tommy E also, but he's un-reachable, for me...

Sorry to dig up an ancient thread, but this seems to be the best thread to drop this in. Not a new version by any chance, but hardly mentioned on any forums. It's a great arrangement, at least to me.

Removed post because I didn’t realize this was an old thread to which I had already posted.
