That has bothered me as well. I am wondering if the best bet would be to cut a small notch or similar in it so you can actually feel the position without having to look.

Actually, a little dab of metallic silver sharpie did the trick.

I used 1/16" Graphics tape to mark the knobs and normal set positions.
