As a mainly vintage Gibson/Martin fingerpicker with 20+ guitars, Im looking for something to take on vacation or leave on the couch outside of the humidity controlled music room. The problem is I've been through 10 pages of threads and I can't find a guitar with:
A full neck (mod V or full C) of 1 3/4", 1 13/16", or 1 7/8" A saddle spacing of 2 5/16" or 2 3/8" 24.75"-25.4 scale 00/000/OM size or collapsing I had a Journey OF660 but the thin neck, 24.5" scale, and narrow saddle just didn't work out, but I loved the portability and stability. Are there any L-00, 000/OM CF guitars out there for us vintage players? |

Thanks so much for your reply. Its the saddle spacing thats really key. I can play 1 3/4 -2.05 (vintage to classical) at the nut, but a saddle spacing of 55mm (2.18) is shy of 2 3/16. I know 5mm or 1/8" is very small, but it's very difficult for me to fingerpick. I need 2 1/4", preferably even 2 3/8". 1930's Gibsons and Martins were 2 3/8" or 2 5/16". Most of my guitars are 2 5/16" or 2 3/8" with one Goodall, one resonator, and 2 classicals at 2 1/4". I don't own any guitar below 2 1/4"
2 1/4 = 2.25 = 57.15mm 2 5/16 = 2.31 = 58.74mm 2 3/8 = 2.375 = 60.33mm |

![]() Suffice it to say that, as the owner of a Martin 0-16NY (1 7/8” nut, and a neck profile best described as ‘portly’), I find my X20 perfectly comfortable to play. The Emerald X7 and X30 share the same nut and bridge dimensions, as well.

Emerald also entertains a certain amount of customization you could get an X20 with a wider neck I think. Give them a call.

You *could* get to 2 1/2 by buying an X7-12 or X20-12 and leaving 6 strings off it - that would get you a 1 15/16 nut as well ![]()
