Chris Smither Anyone?
I have listened to many hours of Chris's amazing playing over the years . . . but I can never find a decent source of tablature. Anyone know of some tabbed out versions? I'm aware of a number of songs with the chord progressions, but I'm looking to incorporate a lot of his more subtle licks.

I also enjoy his playing. His website advertises a few instructional DVDs/streaming videos and two songbooks. I have one of the videos and one of the songbooks.

Chris Smither DVD's
I would have to recommend the 2 dvds. I think they came with tabs and he breaks the songs down pretty well. Worth the price of admission for sure.

That'll probably be the route I'll go. The DVDs and songbooks.

The tablature in his song books is pretty darn good....very well done and as close as you can get to the original recordings...

I found a video of him playing "leave the light on" live and figured it out from there. His hands must be long and elastic to thumb the base notes while playing chords higher up the neck.

Can't help with the tablature, but he does have an amazing talant both with groove and lyrics. He is one of the more prolific writers of the day.

Train Home
Tab for "Train Home" appears in the Nov. 2003 issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine. I love this song.

I just ordered on of his DVDs. I'm keen on learning the subtleties of Link of Chain. Thinking about getting a pair of boots and miking my shoes, too.

I have the DVDs and just ordered a book from his website, but he doesn't have anything recent. Anyone else have any good resources?

Quote:
From what I remember to have heard, I believe some of his uniqueness is due to how he taught himself to mimic the sound of slide players. However, in those early days of his playing he had not seen anyone playing with a slide, and was unaware of them. Part of his unique style and sound resulted.
