Scope?

I'm looking at buying either a borescope or an endoscope to inspect the inside of instruments. I'd be curious about y'all's experience.

1. What do you find to be the advantages of either.
2. Is it possible to use one with those impossibly long camera cables for instruments?
3. What device do you recommend? I'm not really willing to break $100, but maybe.

I have reasonable success putting my cell phone inside and taking a picture which I can the zoom in on. If I set the camera to "say cheese" mode I don't have to reach into press the shutter button.

This may be only good for occasional use but it might save you $100.
