Every House Needs a Parlor
Every house needs at least one, in my opinion. Next week I plan on putting several of my parlors up for sale on the AGF, after I get some cleaner photos. Until then, here are a couple of preview shots:

alas, parlor guitars are just too small for my tastes.

First of all, Kevin: I agree, in guitars one size does not fit all. When gigging, I play either my Soloist model, or one of my Small Jumbos. But, for me sitting around the house, I love the comfort of the 13-5/8 lower bout of my "Grand Parlor", which is actually more the size of an O.
And Dru: I've begun "thinning the herd" as I have several other projects going, including an all EIR 000 Tricone a couple of customers have asked for. So, I've got pretty much my entire inventory up for sale: from a Koa/POC 12 fret 000, an EIR/POC "Soloist" 6 string, a sapele/sitka 12 string Soloist. By the way, my Soloist model not the same as the Schoenberg-sized Soloist. Mine is just slightly larger than a dread with a more accentuated waist. As I learned and worked under Bozo Podunavac (of Kottke's early 12 string fame) my 12's have the big, resonant Bozo sound. Anyway, most of these can be seen on my website, but I'll also be featuring them in either this and/or the AGF Marketplace in the future. Hopefully, I'll be putting up some sound clips, too. And finally, Fliss. I agree--every room should have its own parlour!

Stunning guitars! My only parlor at the moment is a La Patrie 'Motif'...which I dearly love. For the little dollars I paid (used craigslist) it is quite a little stunner. Great volume and sweet, rich tone that belies it's diminuitive size.
However....I am JONZIN for a steel string parlor. As much as I love dreads, OM's, GC's, et all....I'd have no qualms about playing a parlor for my live acoustic. I'm just smitten with all things parlor! Your's my friend, are just beautiful!! I'll have to check you out my next trip to Canada.

Hey, Poppa! I'm actually in Vancouver, WA USA. which is just across the Columbia River from Portland, OR. I've run into a lot of folks who, when I say I'm from Vancouver, they say, "Oh, that's such a beautiful city!" and when I tell them Vancouver USA, the usually reply, "Really? There is one in the US?"
So, the next time you plan on being in the Pac NW, shoot me a call.

My house has to have a parlor. My larrivee with maple b&s is a little joy and a great little road warrior too. Have it with me this weekend up in Ct while visiting in-laws and throwing a 95th b-day party for my mother in-law. Really enjoyed having the Stearn roadshow parlor for a week too. The parlors pictured are beautiful. Next time we get out to visit good friends in Portland, Salem, Tacoma and Seattle, will have to try and see them in person. The ziricote may be the most dramatic and beautiful guitar back I have seen. Thanks for the look see.

Hi Michael
I saw that you were at the NW Instrument Show in Portland. I didn't take the time to really stop by your booth (I think you had stepped away when I came by). I did hear several of your guitars being played in the quiet room and I really liked what I was hearing coming out those guitars. Dang, now I wished I had made the effort to come back and play one of them. It is good to have another good luthier in the Portland area. Jack
