Default Can I join also????

I too am the proud owner of a McIlroy AS55 (Cocobola/Cedar). I actually won this guitar a few years ago from Shoreline when they were having an online giveaway. I originally won a Rick Turner guitar but talked John into substituting the McIlroy. No regrets. They are great instruments. Just wish I could play well enough to honor its greatness!

Great to see the thread brought up again. I've got a build from Dermot for August, an AS15. Very excited to become a cult member and to own one of his fine guitars.

Post New Member, but not new owner

Hi DrDavid. I am a new member and I'd like to join CoM, as I own 3 Mcilroy guitars: A25C, A22-5, and A65.
Thank you.

Hi there, You got the A25 then? How about another A65? 4 is a lucky number you know, haha!

Nice guitars, enjoy!

Default Hello

Signed up on the other list, but thought I'd say hello. Am a beginner guitarist who first got electric then acoustic GAS. Thought I was gassed out until I heard Sean McClean playing his A30c. It was all over for me. Had to have one and as it happened, Paramount guitars (Kenn) was expecting one to arrive about 2 weeks later. Great timing, no one year wait. It was born November 23rd, 2013 (don't have serial number written down). My body type (fat) requires that I play with a strap. My mother was a Campbell (Scotch Irish). I found a beautiful custom brown strap from Jeri designs made from Scottish Highland leather, so I've got a Scottish Highland strap for an Irish guitar paralleling my Scotch Irish Heritage (not mentioning my Ukrainian other half from dad). Just heard back from Dermot today about front strap pin placement and (although I've installed my own in the past) am having a luthier do this one so I am a few days out from being able to play it efficiently, but the fit, finish and tone have not disappointed so far. What a lovey tone from an elegant instrument. Thank you Kenn and Dermot. Hope to get to a McIlroy gathering before I die, but at 54 hopefully have a few years to get there.

John

Default Can I join too please?

Recently purchased a very early McIlroy A30c, serial #37, from 2001 I believe. Very sweet and balanced sound, great for both fingerpicking and flatpicking. I have installed a Headway pickup which sounds fantastic as I may gig with this guitar instead of my D18. Here's a few pics:

Incredible guitar right? I have the a-36c which is basically the European-Spruce topped version of the a-30c. I gigged with it for awhile...fantastic live guitar because of the way Dermot voices his guitars...nice and balanced but trebles that can cut through. I think if I had to pick "the one" out of my batch for an all-around versatile axe I'd take my Mcilroy.

Let’s give a bump to the CoM thread to hear your thoughts about the sitka spruce and black walnut combo. Cheers!

Amazing. Sweet tone, clear, balanced, great overtones. I owned an AJ20 which was this very combo. It was a killer instrument.
