cursed guitar
anyone ever have a similar experience? I recently sold a Taylor 714, i haven't written a new song since i bought hr in 1997, and immediately after selling her i felt the inspiration to write new songs like i did before i bought her. My perception of music has immediately changed, it has opened up new ideas and new chord progressions that i have not played in years, i am wondering if there was some kind of curse or creative inhibition attached to this guitar. Note that i have not actually been playing this guitar, it has been in its case for about 2 years, I know that sounds strange, but it has struck me as somewhat obvious after selling said guitar, has anyone else had a similar experience with a specific guitar?

I can't say I have but 23 years is a long time to have writers block, then bam!! the inspiration returns. Something is up.

Well, if you have been playing your Gibson and your Martin while the Taylor sat in the closet, it seems most likely it was a coincidence. Maybe subconsciously having too many guitars was inhibiting you somehow. That seems farfetched too. I'm glad the spell, whatever it was, is broken and the creative juices are flowing again. Play on!

Sounds like the 714 didn't inspire you. It can be a finicky relationship. Great to hear that you've found a new writing partner!

The answer seems pretty obvious.
Your band website says you guys play Delta and Chicago Blues. You were playing the Blues on a Taylor 714? No wonder you feel better now that it's gone. (joke flag). Last edited by zmf; 01-26-2020 at 11:23 PM. |

Yeah, the Gibson AJ represents the blues much better that the Taylor ever did thanks for noticing...

Haven't been to prison, wife still here (46) years, no runaway dog, no trains, got nothing to write about. Nothing to do with cursed guitars :

All of my guitars, both the ones I currently own and the ones I no longer own, must be cursed, because I've never written a song!
