Will be spending a few days in the area. Are there any shops worth checking out?

Not a guitar shop, but do visit the shop at Taliesin West, after you take the main tour.

Not a shop, but go visit Kramster - he seems to be open for business and he'll let you play every carbon fiber guitar that's ever been made - he has 'em all!

If the Sonoran Dogs are playing anywhere near you while you're there, go see them. They're often in small venues around Tucson. Don't miss them!

+1 for Acoustic Vibes Music.

I’ll be heading to Scottsdale next month for a day. Hoping to visit AVM and (if I have time) also stop by My Favorite Guitar. They are a Martin dealer and recently moved to Surprise, AZ. I’ve never been, but it doesn’t look to far from Scottsdale. Not sure I’ll have that much time though.

There’s a very very small shop called Guitar Pickers. Not a wide selection, but if you have the spare time. They sell used guitars.

If you have any interest in mandolins...I'm pretty sure MFG is right next door to The Mandolin Store. They're one of the biggest mandolin shops in the country. Check both web sites. They might be operating by appointment.

I'm planning to be in the area in March.

Don, I think they did, or are in the process of closing down.
