Default Rockbridge - where does it rank?

Is it at the same level as Bourgeois, SCGC, Collings?

Or it is at more at the level of Froggy Bottom?

What are we ranking? Price? Quality? Rarity?

Rockbridge Guitars are produced by a four-person team in downtown Charlottesville, VA. I do not believe that they use CNC machining.

They produce about 60 guitars per year, with base pricing starting at over $5000.

I heard a Froggy Bottom the other day that was just about the best sounding guitar i've ever heard and that was through headphones. I can't imagine how it would sound live in a proper studio setup.

I own an SJ from them and I love it. It's not the loudest guitar I own, but it's the most musical I have. I don't have to coax anything out of it like I do some other guitars with my incapable hands. It's balanced. Usually that means lacking to my ear, but this is a truly balanced guitar. They do some cool bracing things that kind of split the difference between Martin and Gibson. I'd say they lean slightly Gibson in the tone department, but they are their own unique thing. They use a water based finish that does seem to ding a bit easier than other finishes, but Brian claims it allows the guitar to breath and sound better. I won't argue. I love mine. They are expensive but for the labor put in I think it's well priced. I'd buy with confidence.

I have only played two Rockbridge guitars and both were built about 8 years back. So I feel like I don't have enough info based on that limited experience. I'd like to get my hands on some more and some of their newer builds.

I bought one new in 2015 and owned it for a while. Sold it in a fit of GAS and it haunted me ever since. It’s special. Build quality is top notch and it has wonderful tone and playability. I was able to find it again and bought it back. A happy reunion! It’s a Granadillo/Lutz Spruce Dread and it is fantastic.
