Smile Just signed a book deal

Hey all. I wanted to share the good news that a publisher has offered me a contract for my novel which should be a available some time next year.

It’s a YA (young adult) novel titled “Camper Girl” about an 18-year old homebody whose beloved but estranged aunt dies and leaves behind a beat-up camper van and a string of mysterious maps. She journeys into the Adirondack wilderness and discovers that she’s stronger than she knows and that a person’s path through life is never clearly marked.

I wrote the first draft seven years ago. The book has gone through many major revisions, helped along the way by my wonderful writing group. I’ve been submitting to publishers and agents and was offered a nice contract by a small publisher in NC.

I’ve been writing since I was a kid. It’s always been a passion of mine. My stories and poems have been published and I’ve won some nice awards along the way. This book, however, has been a long journey for me, and I’m relieved and grateful to know that it will be in print soon.

Lol. No, but she’s a budding artist. For an earlier novel that is now filed away in my desk, the main character played guitar.

That’s wonderful. It’s great to have your hard work recognized. Move over J K Rowling! Good luck with the sales.

Many congratulations, but you should know that the “real” work has yet to begin. Getting out and marketing your book is something you’ll need to embrace. You can’t hope that your publisher will be as interested in your success as you should be. There are many more ways to market a book than when I wrote/published mine in the 1990s. Best wishes, and plan to follow up with a sequel and ideally have series characters....

Congratulations!
I have often considered writing a book of some sort. Wrote some poetry over the years and a couple of short stories. It's a huge undertaking or at least it would be for me.
I wish you success.

That's great news! It's an amazing feeling when you actually see your name in print with a real ISBN number!

Time for the encore!

best,

Rick
