Inspired by Methos’ thread a long way back when he had an APLE, he bought the top o’ the line Gator gig bag for it. I thought his reasoning as to a gig bag for carbon fiber made a lot of sense; not wood,so not worried about leaking precious humidification, and impervious to the elements too! So, RainSong, why the HSC?

If you are flying you will most likely need to gate-check a RainSong, and I wouldn’t trust any tarmac warrior with MY RainSong. But, what about traveling to gigs close to home, camping, on the boat, at the beach, on top of a mountain....no one else handling your guitar but you? Isn’t lighter with straps mo’ beta? Plus all the extra storage space for whatevs?

Thanks guys. We’ll see how it holds up. It wasn’t the $150 bag but it wasn’t a cheap Gator either. I got this one on sale for $95 because it’s tan. The gray and the black bags are $99. It is nearly 5 pounds lighter than the thermal-lite case the RainSong came with. So far I’m a fan

Nice! I like a good gig bag - lightweight, easy to strap on your back. Especially if you are carrying your own guitar.

You know what? While that Rainsong guitar is long gone I still have that Gator bag and it has been (and still gets) used on a regular basis for all guitars that fit in it, which is every guitar I've owned. The Emerald X20 just goes into its own gig bag but my beautiful Martin custom goes into the Gator. Every high-end wood guitar I've owned since I bought the Gator has had its hard case sit in the storage room collecting dust.

Hey , you use your deck/patio/whatever for guitar-related photo shoots too !

I just got this, it’s like the Taylor GS Mini bag (made by Access), no neck support, but decent lightweight bag with comfortable back straps and a marsupial pouch.

And it’s versatile too !

Closest thing I've seen to an air guitar: 6 invisible strings fed to those invisible tuning machines on a Fender 6-string uke. New, England-only model??

I just got that bag's big brother (the Access Stage 3) which has a few more pockets, neck support, and a 1200 denier outer covering as opposed to the 600 denier outer layer on the stage one bag. It fits my Rainsong Shorty perfectly, and as a bonus also fits my Martin custom-shop 000-15 perfectly. Just got it on Friday, so I haven't snapped any photos yet. I don't think it really saves much in terms of weight, but I think that the guitar is actually better protected - since it has a layer of thick, hard-cell foam as well as a very cushy interior. It's also so much easier to carry around than the hard cases that came with the guitar (TKL thermoplastic with the Rainsong and the tolex-covered wood GPCPA5K that came with the Martin.)

I am a huge fan of gig bags for their light weight and their slingability, i.e., being able to be slung over one shoulder to get hands free for carrying other stuff. My one caveat is they are only for to and from gigs where only I will handle the instrument. For everything else, I use the hard case.
