Internet Invisibility
I seem to be invisible lately when it comes to dealing with people on the internet. I have several instances where I have used the contact information on web pages and eBay where no one responds or they respond and then don't follow through with added information they said they were going to supply. Two instances on guitars that I was interested in purchasing. And the guitars are still for sale. If people don't respond I find it hard to justify doing business with them.

It's puzzling. I've had that happen with company contacts sometimes. (Once, though, it was the fault of my spam filter--a response to a query had fallen into spam.)
Ebay is a mixed bag. I get the idea that some folks who list things don't even check their accounts.

The 5 people in my house or 750+ where I work are not so good about responding. I'm sure that is not an Internet issue.
Also, the Internet is not so invisible. Your ISP logs more than you might know. At work the dumb who think they're fooling me with a VPN or wrong and guest network use stand out.

Many companies use their web presence for letting you know they are there - not for responding. Pick up the phone and call if you’re really interested.

Ironically, I was typing THIS post this morning as well, about flaky buyers going radio silent on me, never responding, backing out, etc.

I often find that too many people assume email is infallible when a loads of email simply disappears, it's not that someone dosen't bother to reply

I've been on the other side where a friend used the contact page of my web site and I responded directly to their email address then heard nothing more from them.
Some time later I discovered that even though the email address was correct, they never received my reply and thought I was being the ignorant one. |

I see you Mr. Jelly!
I share your pain. I accept that some emails go missing and do not reach their destination. But I believe you can also detect a pattern with some people and then it's time to clean up your contacts. Once a year or so, I delete peeps from my contacts that have demonstrated this pattern. They can pick up the phone or write me a letter if they want, but their email privileges are withdrawn and their email goes to my spam folder or deleted from my inbox as detected. Life is too short to tolerate such things.
