Here are a few more contractions referring to the names of the five famous logs of redwood harvested by Craig and Alicia Carter that have been popular choices for guitar tops:
LS: Lucky Strike (generally considered the finest redwood available) ST: Singing Tree TA: Truly Awesome (hey, it was the 60's) TB: Tono Basso FA: Fine Arts continuing the Redwood theme: Tunnel 13 & Tunnel 14: redwood harvested from the support beams of these two train tunnels built in the 1880’s for the Southern Pacific Railroad in southwestern Oregon. Sinker: redwood harvested from logs submerged in lakes or rivers. and: Moonspruce: spruce harvested within the last quarter of a waning moon in the wintertime after the growing period of the tree has stopped and there is less sap in the tree, and thus, less resins to evaporate/crystallize in soundboards made from it. Also commonly used here: YMMV: your mileage may vary NCI: no commercial interest GLWS: good luck with the sale IMHO: in my humble opinion GAS: guitar acquisition syndrome MAS: mandolin acquisition syndrome (?)AS: (substitute anything for '?') acquisition syndrome Last edited by jmagill; 07-18-2019 at 11:38 AM. |

Stunningly beautiful, as are all of Mr. Slobod's guitars. Thanks for sharing the build with us.
(PS, I don't understand why the thread is littered with acronyms for various categories of redwood. Thankfully, this guitar sports no redwood.)
