[SOLD] Stefan Sobell Model 1. Mint.
My new Tom Sands means that I need to make some room in the cupboard so I’m moving on my 2009 Sobell Model 1. I am the first owner.
Specs are as follows: Adirondack soundboard; Madagascar rosewood back and sides; Cuban Mahogany neck; Ebony fretboard and bridge with bone saddle and nut; Nut width is 44.5mm; string spacing at the bridge is 57.5mm. The woods are fabulous quality - look at the pics. Comes in a Guardian hard case. Shape is Stefan’s standard Model 1. The depth is a bit shallower to aid ease of playing and the neck is shallow front-to-back, like the Martin Simpson neck profile. It’s very easy to play. Condition is mint. No scratches, dings. No cracks etc. It has all the typical Sobell sonic fireworks – bright, clear, strong, lots of separation and can’t be overdriven. Sustain for days. I’ve had four other Sobells prior to this one; this is a great one; perhaps a little sweeter and less steely than some I've played. Try it and see what you think. I am near London UK and am asking £SOLD GBP. That is a very, very good price of one of these. PM me if interested. Cheers, Steve Last edited by steveh; 06-17-2018 at 09:55 AM. |

Brett,
At that price buy it and book a cheap flight and go pick it up! The trip would probably cost about the same as shipping and have less risk of customs issues. |

That is seriously good advice. Singapore Airlines offer extremely competitive fares between Houston and Manchester.

I agree - fantastic price !
The Sobells I have heard sound like nothing else. Out of my usual range of consideration, but based on hearing Martin Simpson play a Sobell up close and Darrell Scott from a distance this is one guitar I'd make an exception for - if it was in the US. Although if it was in the US I think it would be gone by now ! Best of luck with the sale. Mark |

You would either have to come and fetch it or get a friend to bring it over.

I'm asking people to do what I do myself when bringing in a guitar from abroad - arrange the courier themselves. I will pack it properly and arrange to be in for collection. I've brought several guitars into the UK over the years this way - I pay for the guitar by bank transfer, arrange courier pickup and insurance. If there are any issues with the couriers, I can deal with them myself. A real tricky situation arises when the guitar has been paid for and is owned by the new owner, but the seller has arranged shipping/insurance etc. It's never happened to me, but it's a theoretical issue. I don't have any CITES documentation for this. There's no BRW but I'm not sure whether that exempts it for the USA? Will depend on the destiation country. Having said that, last guitar I brought in was a BRW guitar from France a couple of years ago. I paid the seller, arranged collection and insurance, and the guitar turned up at my house safe and sound a few days later. Cheers, Steve |

Smart and Informative
Thanks Steve for your detailed response!
Your pricing is extremely attractive and Sobells are so wonderful.! It is becoming more difficult to import any rosewood guitar into the USA. As an earlier post noted, the best option may be to retrieve this guitar in person. Peace be with you!!! Good Luck with the sale of this beautiful guitar!!! |
