Quite clever to take off the 5th string, meaning that loose right hand style can pick bass and chords alternately.
Obviously with only 5 machine heads, one string had to go, but the 5th is an interesting choice. And I notice there's only 4 strings anyway. Update: the tuning is F - A C F -. Like open E, but up a half-step, and with strings 4-3-2 tuned how 3-2-1 usually are.
