Make one with the traditional 3-PU layout/RW board in Candy Apple Red and I'm in...

The translucent red looks fine to me, Pau Ferro fretboard isn't too different from slightly pale rosewood, and I might actually like the (apparently) P90 style pickups. P90s just look strange in my eyes, whatever guitar they are mounted on.

There was also this "limited edition" that seemed to be available in the US for about a month early this year. There are still some available in the UK. I already have a Robert Cray hardtail strat, slightly modified, that I'm incredibly happy with, but this one sure looked sweet.

As for the Noventa, I LOVE P90s but neither a strat or tele is my favorite platform for them. I prefer a Les Paul or SG and I have an Epiphone SG with P90s that I freaking love, but only play about 10% of the time because I'm just a strat guy and that's what I generally reach for.. I had a tele with P90s for a while - it was OK, but for some reason I like a Gibson type guitar with P90s more. They seem to growl better somehow...

Not sure how I missed that hardtail from Sweetwater. Other than the ‘70s head/neck I like it!

The Noventa series looks interesting to me but I have yet to play a Fender P90 guitar that moved me. I agree that Gibson seems to have the P90 thing figured out quite well.

It is probably over 30 years since I last thought that the SG shape was appealing

Hardtail strat shape with 2 P90s...... nice combination. I'll need to listen to tjhse pickups a few times before deciding, but I may well jump......

RP, I remember the hardtail Strat thread. What was that, a year or three ago?

I'd be up for a hardtail. I actually blocked the trem on on of my strats (my MIM pawn shop find).

Seems Fender doesn't want the average customer adjusting the truss rod on this model...

I've been trying to figure out why Fender typically offers hard-tail Strats with some mitigating factor that makes me not want to buy it. I've just fallen back on Gibson for hard-tails.

What was the mitigating factor on the Robert Cray model?
