I just ordered another LR Baggs HiFi from Sweetwater as they just got more in stock this morning. Get one while you can! I've got to decide which guitar to install it in:

1) Huss & Dalton TD-R after removing the current LR Baggs IBeam Active;

or

2) Larrivee D-40R Sunburst after removing the current Schatten HFN Artist II Plus 2;

or

3) Larrivee D-50

More to come ...

Are you liking the Hifi as well as the Trance?

These are in stock now at Sweetwater. I ordered one. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’ll have to remove a K&K in one of my guitars first, or install in a new, yet to be named guitar.

I like the idea of you installing it in a new guitar. A NGD is always fun especially if it involves a new pickup review as well. Just saying.........enablers are helpers

Hi Billy,

I haven't as yet compared the LR Baggs HiFi to the Trance Amulet M system but will do so today. I have this thought that when I order another Trance system I'll first install the Amulets with the thinnest available (.003 inch approximate actual adhesive thickness) 3M VHB double-sided tape. I firmly believe the Trance tape is too thick (.009 inch actual adhesive thickness) to enable the system to yield its best tonal capabilities. My epoxy mounting of the Amulets gives far superior tonal results compared to the Trance tape. The 3M VHB tape mounting of the Amulets should yield tonal results close to my epoxy mounting of them and make the system non-invasive compared to the epoxy mounting of the Amulets. Why would I still want to install a Trance system when the LR Baggs HiFi yields a good tone for a lot less cost? I hear and believe the Trance Dual Mono M endpin preamp is superior to the LR Baggs endpin preamp, and the Amulet tone is more detailed. Is a more detailed tone desirable even if most listeners wouldn't care one way or the other? For me, it comes down to what I want to hear from a system as it inspires me to play better. More to come ...

I ordered another HiFi. I have a used Savoy I expect to receive soon. It has a UST in it already. I don't like USTs. So I'll replacce it with something; likely a HiFi.

First I want to take my J50 with a new HiFi to a couple open mics and see how it performs in a live amplified setting. It sounds quite good at home through an amp.

I am not sold on the HiFi yet. I have to admit that I hear more piezo tone in it than any other SBT style pickup. I don't need another pickup so won't be buying one anytime soon, but I do hope that what I am hearing in demos is just a result of potentially too much treble dialled in.

At home through my amp, I liked the sound with the treble rolled off the best. We'll see how it performs out in the real world later this week.

Scott, more demos are coming up this weekend with a few different Tone Wheel settings for both the Hifi and Amulet. More to come ...

Wondering if you guys are still liking the Hfi with some more time in?

Looking for something to put in the Larrivee TE I have. Don’t want under saddle anything. The less obtrusive the better. I don’t care about direct sound really. Something that sounds good and natural enough through a Para DI or venue pedal and into PA. Also something not super prone to feedback with a full band.

I'm still liking the LR Baggs HiFi in my two installations, both Larrivee dreadnoughts.

I have a Trance Amulet M-VT Phantom installed in my Larrivee C-03 TE and love it! I installed my Amulet transducers with Henkel 6-Minute Epoxy and heard a superior amplified tone compared to my several previous installations of Amulets in other guitars using the Trance recommended and supplied permanent tape. Using the Trance permanent tape should give good amplified tone results but I like the Henkel Loctite 6-Minute Epoxy better.
