Default Croce plays Croce

We had a great time seeing AJ Croce and his band last Friday night! I have to say he really lit up the stage with his energy and soul. His band members are all seasoned veterans, having played with every headliner you can think of!

A surprise for me, as AJ related, the entire time we associate with Jim Croce and his tremendous hits was a span of only 18 months before he was killed in that airplane crash. Sad, and incredible.

A second surprise.....he is an absolute virtuoso on the piano! Incredible!!

AJ offered stories about his dad, and his career working with some of the greats....including Ray Charles. Funny and poignant, things flowed smoothly through hits and new material and famous Jim Croce tunes. As you might expect, the evening encore ended with "Time in a Bottle" with video of AJ as a 2 year old with his dad. "Time in a Bottle" was written for AJ before he was born and is of course an emotional moment each concert and time it's played.

Below is AJ in a studio session of his band and you can really get the energy and vibe AJ puts out with his music. It's the same band members who were with him on concert the other night.

Sounds fantastic. I saw Jim shortly before the crash.

How cool that you got to see him! I bought his first CD when it came out and learned this tune right away back when I was performing all the time.

He was on CBS Sunday Mornings a while back talking about this endeavor:

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, AJ is killing it on the piano!

We have a local connection to Jim here as he went to Malvern Prep and is buried right down the road from our Synagogue in Malvern.
