Default Ukelele Back Radius

Hi Eveyone,

After building a few guitars thought I would give a uke a go! I got plans for a tenor and the plans call for a 48" back radius. Is that normal for a Uke? Seems a bit aggressive of a radius, but admittedly don't have much of a reference point.

Any shared thoughts appreciated!

Mark

Less aggressive than I build my sopranos!

On those I curve the back from head to tail more like a 24 inch radius, and probably 36 inch side to side (I don't use a radius dish, so these are estimates).

I think it helps increase volume, though I've no measurements to back that up.
