Default Why are Ukulele strings so loose

Refering to soprano.They are tuned so low for the scale length. Why aren't they tuned as high as a violin?

You can tune up to D instead of C (ADF#B) for more tension.
Worth are the only string manufacturer that I can think of that do different weights.

Soprano Ukulele's have less tenson than a classical guitar. total is around 20 pounds of tension.The strings on average have 5 pounds of tension.
