It has a humbucker in the bridge.

The pickups are ”Fender Designed”.

If I didn't know any better, that looks like Squires take on the Fender Lone Star
What THEY called it, no idea really

On Lonestar, I believe the neck and the middle pups are Texas Specials and I think the bridge is a Duncan Pearly Gates.

Could be either a Squier Standard HSS or Affinity. It should have that distinction on the end of the headstock. Looks to me like an Affinity. The lowest end of the Squier line except for the Bullet series. If that is $399 AU dollars that seems way too high IMO. I wouldn't pay more than $100 USD for a used one.

Not to generalize, but typically guitars coming out of Indonesia are budget instruments. Cheapest possible pickups, hardware, electronics, and wood. Sometimes these cheap guitars can be made to play ok. Sometimes, it’s just not worth the expense of upgrading everything when you could just start with a better guitar

Enter the serial number here: https://serialnumberlookup.fender.com/lookup/

Then click on the model number when the page comes up.

Indonesia is putting out some fabulous stuff these days. I used to have the same perception as you, but this is no longer a valid position IMO.

it is and it isn't.

They are superior to what USED to come from the Far East.

But they are still $400 guitars in a world where the US made ones are 5 to 6 x more expensive.

But I think the question comes down to VALUE. Are the $2,000-$4,000 guitars actually WORTH the money?

I have everything from Custom Shop Gibson to Harley Benton in my horde of 20 electrics. I don't have a bad one in the bunch.

I think the answer is different for everyone, it's worth what we're as individuals willing to pay.
I think "yes". that's just me.

I think the difference is massive between the two, I've been playing for 50+ years

Someone just getting their feet wet, may not really know the difference.

I would agree.
If someone wants to spend $1400 on a new American made “Performer Series”, that’s a good value.
I would put my new Squier up against one at under one-third the price though. I got mine for $379.
Everything about it is really quite decent and it played and intonated well right out of the box. The platform is excellent, the neck issuper nice and the pickups sound awesome. If you really want to do upgrades (unnecessary IMO), you can get into all of that for about $400 and it’s still about half the price of the Performer.

BTW, I’ve owned many Strats ..American, Japanese and Mexican over the years.
I would never knock anyone, especially a gigging musician, for spending two grand or more on a new Strat…I couldn’t justify it.
I would be willing to hunt down a used one.

I mean, look…

“Not to generalize” yet here you are. It is true that Indonesia made guitars are budget line of popular USA guitars. But I’ve owned several Indonesian guitars, and every single one of them are beautifully crafted instruments. Much better than MIM Fenders by a long shot. And in some cases, even better than some MIA models. My Sterling Majesty is much better constructed than the Gibson Studio I used to own. And the pickups depends on the model. Some indonesia guitars come with budget pickups, not others are usually offered with popular Duncan or Dimarzio pickups. Even calling them budget guitars is quite the stretch considering some do sell in the 4 digit range.

As for the OP, that blurry picture tells next to nothing about that Squier. Could be a $150 bullet, or a Classic Vibe.

Agreed! Here is my "Budget" Pono from Indonesia...
