How are you clocking? Does the DM2000 have a good clock?

Eventually you learn that it isn't a matter of learning what every knob and fader does, but instead learning to do what you need to do on the console. The other interesting fact is that the input/output channels are either identical or similar enough that once you learn one, you know the rest. So, in that case of that SSL console, there were 100 knobs, buttons, faders, and indicators on each channel. That added up to over 5000 knobs on the console. HOWEVER, 4800 of those were contained on the forty-eight input/out channels that were nearly identical. There were other complications, but the principle was, learn to make it do your work efficiently, then you can learn the rest when you have more time.

That would be the home studio, where we got kittens in December.

We've got an external clock that drives the whole studio. The internal clock works fine but we've got so many items that need to be clocked that we went ahead and supplied central clock.

Incidentally, Avalon VT737 #1 began crackling today. Being that it occupies the first slot in the most-used studio complex, it is the most-used unit in the whole complex. I've put in a ticket with the engineers with my suspicions listed.
