New banjo on the way...
I just sold my Goodtime 2 and upgraded to a Recording King RK35. Should be here tomorrow.

Hey Todd! Congrats!! A nice looking banjo judging from the photos I've seen. Why'd you choose the RK-35? Anything in particular trip your trigger?

It's just a dang good deal for what you get. It arrived today and I've been playing it some. Totally blows the Goodtime 2 away. Not even close... But, the two really are in different niches. I have owned some really good banjos and the RK35 is very close sound wise.

I pick some banjo too. I really like bluegrass music, and some of the things Bela Fleck has done on the banjo. Man he is good. Congrats on new purchase!!

Just got my banjo parts today! My son got me a banjo for Christmas & it's too nice to lug all over to lessons so I got a Gold Tone that was basically brand new but severely neglected. New head, hooks, tailpiece and some other hardware and I'm on my way to a new banjer!
Work starts tomorrow!

Good luck Dan. Keep us posted!
I have been playing my RK35 a lot since it arrived. Very nice! I'm waiting on a back ordered case and some banjo spikes and I'll be ready to go! Todd

Sounds like a sweet deal.
My wife bought me a Cortez banjo in 1989 and I've yet to learn how to play it. I did figure out Sweet City Woman by ear when I first got it, but it's just been sitting in its case all these years with its original strings and all. Very rarely have I ever played with it, even then for only a few minutes. One of these days..... |

It's a Gold Tone CC50-RP that's basically brand new but was sitting neglected in a hot closet for five years. Tone ring out of round, fasteners loose, head indented with the bridge footprint because it, was way too loose. I replaced the head, the tension hoop, hooks, hook nuts, tail piece, had to shave the neck to fit the new hoop... all well worth it! I bought it cheap and used it as a learning tool...new tuners will be next! It's been a very good experience! It's been a fun project and I've learned a lot...and my wife just loves the way it sounds with the new head & hoop! A double good whammy!
