Flatpicking "Cherokee Shuffle" -Eric Skye
Time for another little fiddle tune in my kitchen. One time flatpicking through Cherokee Shuffle. One of my favorite old tunes. It's a little longer in the B part than the A, so you gotta make sure you have that extra cup of coffee. Happy Sunday.https://youtu.be/7zggYcj7xiM?si=TNbBSfPXu2F4h4Bf
And here's more or less what I think I played in tablature (minus the intro/outro potatoes) in case anyone wants to play along this morning. |

Super Nice, Eric!
Thanks much for posting this, it's one of my favorite tunes. It's timely, as I posted a topic with a link to a video where John Leventhal discusses his love for CGDGBE tuning, calling it his "secret weapon". I downloaded your tab example and simply re-named the extension (webP) as "jpg" and it printed with no problem. John Leventhal Last edited by Rudy4; 04-22-2024 at 06:22 PM. |

Love whatever you did @ 44 seconds... is there a name for that? |

Dang alternate tunings. Otherwise I'd check it out. Thanks for sharing.

That's interesting. Besides various kinds of sixth string manipulations (Drop D, or Db, or raised F...) CGDGBE is the only alternate tuning I've used for many years. I used it on most of my 2012 Different Kind Of Blue record for example.. I always called it "New G Tuning" to students..

I get it. But it's good to think of this one as regular tuning on the top four strings, and the two bass strings are just free open drones for that key. I'm not a big open tunings fan myself, but I find this fairly easy, and a lot of fun for playing in the key of key - the people's key

I call this cello tuning. It’s a fantastic and flexible tuning for the guitar. Sönke Meinen uses it on most of his compositions. Check out his playing if you’ve never seen it. Truly one of the greats.
I love this version of Cherokee Shuffle, Eric. It’s lovely! |
