Default Help Identifying Vintage Gibson

This is being advertised as a 50's gibson a low price near me. The seller said he can't read the numbers clearly.

It's a Gibson LG1, made between around 1955 and ~1960, BRW bridge & fretboard, solid spruce over mahogany.
Not to be mistaken for the later LG1/B25 models in the 60s with the ceramic bridge.
Definitely worth snapping up if it's going cheap.

edit -- I thought I was quick but he got bombarded with 50 people wanting to buy it since he'd listed it for $500 like 4 hours ago.

They were +/- $1200 for a long time, but prices have risen significantly since, I've seen them go for up to $2.5K.
Mine (a '56) cost me $1300 and is a great guitar for fingerstyle & blues, don't be put off by the fact that it's ladder braced, not everything has to be X-braced to sound good .

He had it listed for $500 and must have just gotten swamped with offers to buy it from people who knew vintage gibson better than I do in a matter of an hour. Oh well, I'm not really a Gibson guy anyway

How can you tell - just from the pictures, that it is an LG1 and not an LG2?

1955-1960 LG2 models have a center seam reinforcement strip running the length of the back inside the guitar, same era LG1 models don't have that strip.
