don't know if you or your audience would appreciate the

Edith -n- Archie version of Those Were The Days

???

maybe you could try it out on Imus...

Yeah, interesting concept!
Maybe we could do it using the same 1 & 3 rhythm pattern as "Sunshine of Your Love" ~ "BOY the way Glenn MILler played, SONGS that made the HIT Parade"

Dolly Parton is (IMHO) a great songwriter.

And she's a duet all by herself!

Actually Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees wrote that song.

I was simply making a general comment about her songwriting, but
I'm "Guilty"
("Guilty" of another cheap post, anyway. . .)

(I still think she is a great songwriter; I really liked "Here You Come Again" ~ or did Barry Gibb compose that one, as well? Either way, Dolly sang it as only she could)

Not a duet...well maybe it could be. Did you ever hear Dolly's rendition of "Collective Soul's" rather heavy "Shine"? She turns it into bluegrass with Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek...and some lightning fast 5-string breaks. Very interesting treatment of a "rock ballad."

"I've Just Seen A Face" (Lennon/McCartney) also makes a great acoustic guitar, folksy, bluegrassy tune. Heard any number of "real" bluegrass ensembles rock that one out. Nice two-part harmony there too.

Great job! A couple of friends up in Minneapolis do a nice male/female duet of the McCartney-penned Everlys hit "On the Wings of a Nightingale."

Default Take a guess

Lift up your head.
Wash off your mascara.
Here, take my Kleenex,
Wipe that lipstick away.
Show me your face,
Clean as the mornin'.
I know things were bad,
But now they're ok.

Actually, I would love to sing this song with a partner at an open mic someday.

Regards, Jack

I think it's "Suddenly Seymour," from Little Shop of Horrors, no?

It'd make a great "dinner-set" number

YESSSS!

Upon reading your post, I immediately downloaded the lyrics. Great, great vocal! (from EB84)

(and the up-tempo Everly Brothers numbers are very good suggestions, Sandy. Thankyew)

Seems like there are excellent suggestions pouring in every day.
Thanks again, everyone. Don't stop now
