Default Sinker

Our trip to Nashville was a blast. Played some super amazing guitars. Toured the Ryman and went to the Grand Ole Opry. Saw a great band at Acme Feed and Seed, Headed over to Chattanooga and saw Tommy Emanuel at the Songbird - amazing! And ate some great bar-b-que.
We played at least 10 sinker D-18s at Gruhn’s. While they were beautiful and played well but my buddy and I did not care for the tone. They were all bright and a little tinny. We found a used D-18 GE there for comparison that sounded markedly better. We both thought we might have been bringing a sinker home but I am glad we played them first. Maybe our ears were jaded from playing so many high end guitars at Carter’s before going to Gruhn’s?
Oh yeah - my buddy and I call these trips guitar safari’s. Even if we don’t buy anything it’s fun to try guitars that we can’t find close to home.
My favorite of the trip was a Santa Cruz Brazilian D ($15k - it was unreal!), Santa Cruz Eric Skye OO, and a used Huss and Dalton OO custom. The first two were way out of my price range. I may still order the H&D.

Great town to visit if you are a guitar player/music lover!

interesting My sinker is very different then the ones at Gruhns its a one off custom shop and has a different top not a Adirondack spruce top and also my bracing I believe is different as well...now I owned a d18 golden era years ago and there is no comparison ...My sinker killed it..also when I purchased my Sinker here at the Music Zoo on Long Island it beat every single acoustic guitar in the shop ...many several thousand higher in price.....what i will say is it is not a bassy full sounding BOOM guitar but the definition and clarity is other wordly!! too bad you didnt like em...but I learned personal preference is what is at work here.....
