Default 2018 Gibson J-45 Vintage: SOLD to AGF member cheer tunes!

This guitar is no longer for sale. It was sold to AGF member cheer tunes. Thanks to everyone for your interest.

I'm selling my 2 month old Gibson J-45 Vintage which has the thermally aged (torrefaction) Adirondack Spruce top. I've dropped the price by $200 and now I'm asking $3,300 plus $75 shipping within the continental United States. The list price on these brand new is about $4,700.

From Gibson's website:
Quote:
The J-45 Vintage, this model stays true to the original in every way, including the same round-shoulder dreadnought body design, an enhanced top built from Thermally Aged Adirondack red spruce, custom vintage hide glue top bracing, and back and sides constructed from genuine mahogany. Finished with Gibson's new Thin Finish plus a hand rubbed VOS process, for a truly vintage-inspired look and feel.
I bought this in September, 2018 from Chicago Music Exchange and have played it a total of 4 hours (approximately). This guitar sounds and plays wonderfully but I'm an Advanced Jumbo guy so my 2002 AJ still owns my heart and because of that, I think this incredible instrument will sit in its case more than it should. This guitar needs to be owned by someone who will play the heck out of it. She deserves your undivided attention!

Here is a link of images that I took shortly after purchasing the guitar in late September. Please reach out should you have any questions or want more detailed photos.
Thanks!

.... agreed ++ I've owned a couple of AJs including a Luthier's Choice but I believe that (at least for me), the 2018 Gibson Custom Shop J45 Vintage is in a different league.

I appreciate the opinions! Hopefully there are some buyers out there with the same opinions. For me, it's the AJ all the way. Both guitars sound great though.

Absolutely - it's all about personal preference. Best of luck with your sale.

I have to admit that if I could only keep one of mine, I would have to let the J45 go too in favor of keeping my AJ New Vintage (I have both as well). But they are both absolutely fantastic. Can't get over how good they both sound. I'm enjoying the snap and unique sound of the J45, but I think I'm fairly confident that I'm solidly in the rosewood camp.. I haven't owned *quite* enough guitars (especially mahogany) to be 100% sure, but . still just seem to SLIGHTLY prefer all of my past and current rosewood guitars over mahogany.

either which way... good luck with your sale... great guitars.. Bozeman has really, really impressed me with the guitars they're making lately..

No affiliation with the seller, but the J-45 Vintage is an incredible guitar. Feather light, sounds awesome for flatpicking, and has a great vintage inspired neck of medium overall thickness. I had a great Martin D-18 Sitka VTS at the time I bought mine, was probably the best Martin I’d ever owned in terms of responsiveness and quality of tone, yet I pretty much knew within two days of having the J-45 around that the D-18 was going bye-bye. Buy with confidence!

I appreciate your post. He's right, this guitar is great! That's why I bought it. I had been shopping actual vintage 45s (from the 60s) and after buying one that had a blown truss rod I had to return it and start my search over. I found this one and it just rang out! It was better sounding than an actual vintage so I was sold. But as someone else mentioned, I'm just a rosewood guy is all. There's nothing wrong with hog, but for me and my ear, I just simply prefer the rosewood tone.

I have dropped the price on this to $3,300. Will probably be last drop and if it doesn't sell at this price, I will unlist and keep it. If you want this guitar, now is the time to act!!

Probably give this another week or 2 before pulling the sale and keeping it.
