Default WTB - Pat Kirtley - Kentucky Guitar - $45/$55 incl. shipping

Finally bought one of the copies of Kirtley's book that had been posted on Amazon. Way overpriced, but decided to just get it. No "Ghost Riders." Lots of EADEAE. Also bought Franco Morone's book of Italian Songs, with more in the same tuning (thanks, Sevenpalms). So I am in over my head.

Thanks to all, and best of luck with your pickin'!

Price $40 plus $5 for tracked shipping. If your book/CD has "Ghostriders in the Sky" included, I'll pay $50 plus $5 tracked shipping. Originally sold for $14.95

I am looking for the book/CD set of Pat Kirtley's "Kentucky Guitar: Acoustic Guitar Solos" in good condition. It does not appear on the publisher's list (Mel Bay) or on Amazon or elsewhere on the web that I can find. Web listing of library holdings did not find one either, except at Library of Congress. Would like the set to have more songs in EADEAE. ISBN is listed as 0786649925 / 9780786649921 / 0-7866-4992-5 if that helps. Original cover price was $14.95 for the book and CD, but I am willing to pay $40 plus $5 for trackable shipping shipping for the set, or $50+5 if the set has "Ghostriders." Surely someone has a copy they don't use anymore.

Thanks for all the information posted below!

If you find them outside AGF, I would appreciate that info, too. Recent eBay auction was book only.

Please send me a PM if you have a good copy of the book/CD for sale or if locate an available copy elsewhere.

I'd be much obliged.

Last year, a guy over at the MacNichol.com forums was looking for the arrangement of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" from this book/recording. He was finally able to track down a copy, though I don't know if it was the book and CD (I don't think it was just "Ghost Riders in the Sky" from his comments). You might try contacting him. He might not need it any more. Here's a link to the thread:

Thanks. I'll give him a try.

So far no luck, but I'll keep at it.

Thanks again.

Thanks. I certainly like his version of the song (YouTube), but that is not all I am looking for. I keep a guitar (GA4) in EADEAE and I keep trying to get more music for it. Doug Young (replying to an earlier post) pointed me to his book, which was helpful, but I could use more. Also, I just like Kirtley's playing. If this does not work, I'll have to see what is on his DVD.

BTW, my wife wrote to Pat Kirtley, who was kind enough to reply, but could only suggest keeping an eye on eBay.

It will work itself out.

Thanks for the info, though. I had forgotten that it was not on the list. Update - in looking at the video - I am not sure that the song is in EADEAE. Great song, but the chord formations seem closer to standard tuning or slightly modified. Haven't tried it yet. Would still be worth learning.

I don't think that's true. I've found multiple sites online that show Ghost Rider in this book. Here are a couple:

Thats very odd.. I am telling you that it is not in the book. There also is one or two other songs that are on the cd that aren"t in the book. Unless he got the rights later to publish the transcription.

Must have been more than one release. Here is the Contents page you linked to and the one I found. Looks like Ghost Riders is the only difference.

Thanks. I'll keep trying. By the way, two different versions might explain why there are two ISBN numbers.

But if Ghostriders is in EADEAE, that ups my interest even more. I'll bump the price for a copy with Ghostriders, though it may not help much.

Got to be a way to solve this.

I keep a guitar (GA4) in EADEAE and I keep trying to get more music for it.

FYI Pat Kirtleys Irish/Celtic book has a few tunes in EADEAE as does Franco Morones South wind and Italian Fingerstyle book...great tuning!
