Default I Got a Name - Jim Croce cover

This is our cover of the great song "I Got a Name" recorded by Jim Croce in 1973. A very popular song for him. A departure from the norm for Jim Croce in that he didn't write this great hit. Words were written by Norman Gimbel, music by Charles Fox. I like finger picking this song the way it was done by them originally. I'm playing it in the key of E, capo 2, D fingering. I hope you enjoy my tribute cover of this great song. This was recorded with my iPhone at a local winery just recently. I'm using the BeatBuddy mini drum pedal which I control with my foot. It is interactive in that, I control the start, stops, and the drum fills live during the performance. Wasn't easy when I first started. Playing, singing, foot percussion all at the same time. Old Dog new tricks applies here. Practice is essential with the BeatBuddy but a real asset and fun addition to our 2 man band.

nicely done! always had a deep love Jim Croce's music. I've been doing this one for some years now myself. Usually one a 12 string, capo on 4, in C position chord format.

Thank you so much!
AMEN to loving Jim Croces music. It certainly had a big influence shaping my style for sure. There's almost no wrong way to do it(unless you try to RAP it)
Thank you for listening!

Very well done... I enjoyed that. And what a nice setting!

I became a bigger fan of Croce after he died. Don't know why, but I think I just began to listen to more of his stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice with an awesome vocal rendition. I, too, an a Jim Croce fan. I play Leroy Brown and am working on Time In A Bottle. After hearing your performance I'm adding that to my "must learn" list. Thank you for sharing that.

Nice job on this Vance!

One of my favorite Jim Croce pieces! It really sounds like something Jim Croce would write, so I was surprised to realize that Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox wrote this.

Well done!

Thanks for listening Kerbie!
I think if you're a guitar player, it's hard not to like Croce!

Hey Bill, Learn them all. They are fun to do and I'm amazed at how many people still engage with Croce's stuff. Thank you for your comments and for listening!

Thank you Glenn for listening in and your comments! I'm glad to know you have a big place in your heart and repertoire for Jim Croce.(and you do it well)
It's always my honor to play music in tribute to my heros. I'm glad Mr. James Taylor has been and continues to be with us on our musical journeys. I was 14 when Jim Croce lost his life. I'll be 60 next month and I still love playing his stuff! I'm still inspired by both to keep at it.
