For Sale: Levin W32 rosewood 1976 Lowered to $1300 shipped!!!

Amazing and rare model, especially in this great of condition. I just had the former director of Galloup school of lutherie reset the dovetail neck. This guitar was made after Martin acquired Levin a few years before. Sounds amazing and plays with a flat neck and great action throughout. As with all vintage guitars, please look at all pictures, as of this has been played, and is not perfect, but very close to it.

Asking $1800 here as that is what I have into this after all the work I just had done after purchasing.

I hunted for this model and guitar for over a year and had to import one from Japan.

I got laid off a month ago and while I'm waiting to start work again, I need to pay some bills.

What a great looking (and I bet sounding) guitar! Was that made in Japan, since you purchased it from Japan?

Not really familiar at all with this brand. Curious to know more about it.

It’s a Swedish made guitar. The company has been around since the late 1800s. Martin bought them in 1973 to basically use up there awesome stock of tone woods. This has a short scale and 1 11/16th next. Can’t tell if it’s euro spruce or not but beautiful rosewood back. Sounds amazing. Due to being laid off I need to sell some of my guitars otherwise I’d be keeping it. Took me forever to find it and I paid well for it plus the cost of repairs and getting it up to snuff.

I’m familiar with Levin guitars - my sister had a Levin-made Goya guitar and when I was in Stockholm I stayed for two weeks at the apartment of a musician who owned a Levin 12 string, which I played and even wrote a song on! I also played several other Levins while still in Sweden.

My only question is whether your guitar is all solid wood or if it has a solid top with laminated back and sides.

Hey Wade, my luthier confirmed solid back and sides. We question it from that era even though it’s supposed to be solid some I guess we’re not. We also are investigating that this should be jacaranda as they also labeled this model w32j.

Also, thank you for your contribution to this forum. Every time I’m researching a guitar model, I generally find you chiming in with great information. I’m having my 2015 maple AJ fixed as a keeper because of one of your posts.

Well, thank you, David. Yeah, the reason I asked was because I knew that Levin made both solid and laminated guitars. My sister’s cute little three quarter size Goya had a natural finish solid spruce top with walnut-stained solid birch back and sides. It was a great little guitar.

To anyone who’s never played a Levin or a Swedish-made Goya, they’re remarkably good guitars.

They really are awesome guitars. Not very mainstream here in the states because they kept the Levin branded ones for the euro market and sent us all Goya branded ones. Half of those Goya guitars were laminate student guitars. Didn’t give them a good rep here in the States, but they’re those insider knowledge guitars. Do enough digging and you’ll find that while Nick Drake has a Guild M20 on his album cover, his friends started he mostly played a Levin dreadnought. Besides how often do you come across a vintage short scale Sitka/rosewood dread? Dang, I’m starting to rethink this listing lol

I was curious if it's solid wood as well....From '61-67, I played a beautiful Goya G30 classical... It was a maple guitar, that if my 60 year old memory is correct, one could see a bright light shine through the back of it?
